Holcim Australia's community partnerships that are connected to Beenleigh Quarry include:
Munanjarliy Yugambeh Traditional Owners
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Holcim’s Beenleigh Quarry and the Munanjarliy Yugambeh was established in 2013. Built on mutual respect and trust, the MOU aims to develop key initiatives to build capacity and provide tangible business and employment opportunities for the local Indigenous community.
The MOU also provides for environmental advice and services, partnerships and other training opportunities.
We support the Beacon Foundation, which develops innovative approaches to resolve the problem of youth unemployment. Beacon works closely with communities: organising career workshops, encouraging mentoring programs, demonstrating practical solutions and even creating new enterprises. Holcim takes an active role in providing support for the students who take part in Beacon’s programs.
In 2018 Holcim and Queensland Police started working together to provide a system to monitor unlawful activity on the Beenleigh Quarry Southern Lands.
