Using our EPD for Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating tools
Holcim’s Aggregates may contribute to points under most IS rating tools. For example, this product may contribute to points under the following credits in IS v2.1 Design and As-Built:
- Rso-6 Material Life Cycle Impact Measurement and Management
- Rso-7 Sustainability Labelled Products and Supply Chains
How do we compare
Holcim was able to model the global warming potential** (GWP) for a number of our products included within our Aggregates EPD, against the available aggregates data in the Australian National Life Cycle Inventory Database (AusLCI).
In comparison, Holcim’s aggregates have a lower GWP for the products highlighted in the figure below.

An EPD is an independently verified and registered document that provides transparent and comparable data about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. EPDs require the completion of a life cycle assessment and third party verification to best practice international and Australian standards.

We are committed to progressively restoring the environment during the quarry’s life, with final rehabilitation after quarrying has finished. Our quarries have been, or are being, restored into a range of possibilities. One of the best-known examples is the Sydney Olympic rowing course for the 2000 Olympic Games.
