Beenleigh Quarry, Beenleigh, QLD
Holcim Australia recognises the importance of providing all employees, contractors, labour hire employees and visitors with a safe and healthy work environment. Our goal is the elimination of all injuries, occupational illnesses and preventable vehicular incidents.
Beenleigh Quarry holds daily pre-start safety sessions and regular Toolbox Talks on safety and occupational health issues to maintain focus and ensure all processes and procedures are carried out in a safe manner.
Holcim invests in and cares about the wellbeing of our people. We hold regular health and wellbeing seminars on site accessible by everyone. We aim to hire local employees and contractors where possible.
Beenleigh Quarry operates Monday through to Friday from 7am to 6pm for extraction, processing and sales, with some planned maintenance works permissible to 10pm.
Saturday morning operations are from 8am to 12noon for sales, carting and maintenance only.
Blasting at Beenleigh Quarry is carried out by a licensed contractor and generally occurs once a month. No explosive materials are stored on site.
Holcim provides a SMS blast notification system for Beenleigh Quarry. SMS notifications will go out on the day of blasting to inform local residents of the estimated blast time. Please email Quarry Manager Matt Fleming to subscribe to the SMS Blast Notifications.
Beenleigh Quarry and the Ormeau community established a voluntary Community Consultative Committee (CCC) in 2013 to provide advice and local knowledge to Holcim in relation to the off-site experiences of the quarry operation. Membership is by invitation and members represent broad stakeholder interests.
The CCC is a voluntary Holcim initiative. The CCC, which meets quarterly, provides a platform for sharing information and community involvement. A typical meeting covers updates on quarry operations including transport, environmental compliance and community engagement activities.
Members of the CCC are voluntary and include Holcim and community representatives. Current CCC members are: Alan Clarke, Uncle Allan Currie, Heather Dunn, Sue Durance, Judy Hendrikx, Andrea James, Stewart Sedgwick, Campbell Staines, Ben Watson (Rural Fire Brigade), Auntie Robyn Williams, Beau Patton (Holcim), Karina Harper (Holcim), and Michelle Williams (Holcim).
You can have your say or ask for an issue to be raised by contacting one of your community representatives above or Beenleigh Quarry Manager Beau Patton on 0448 243 591.

The City of Gold Coast Council recently approved extended operating hours for the Holcim Beenleigh Quarry under Development Permit COM/2021/86. The Development Permit has not changed the size of the approved quarry extraction area or rock blasting activities.
There are a number of conditions that must be satisfied before these extended operating hours can commence, including preparation of a Blast Communication Management Plan, updated Rehabilitation Management Plan and landscaping within Vennor Reserve.
A copy of Development Permit is provided on Council’s website at https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/Planning-building/PD-Online. Search for application number COM/2021/86.
