The Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) is the peak industry body for advancing sustainability in Australia’s infrastructure. As a division of Holcim Australia, Humes is a member of ISCA and takes an interest and role in developing sustainable practises across design, construction and operation of infrastructure.
ISCA has developed the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme which is Australia’s only comprehensive rating scheme for evaluating sustainability for infrastructure. IS evaluates the sustainability of infrastructure projects and assets and assigns credits across a number of categories which incentivise the use of sustainable practises.
Humes helps its customers achieve higher IS ratings through smart selection and design of precast products. Precast concrete, relative to in-situ concrete designs and other materials, will often reduce waste, energy input, safety hazards and other environmental impacts.
Humes is the official 'EnviroDevelopment National Technical Standards Multi-Unit Residential Partner'. EnviroDevelopment is a scientifically-based branding system designed to make it easier for purchasers to recognise and, thereby, select more environmentally sustainable developments and lifestyles.
Certified developments will have been carefully designed to protect the environment and use resources responsibly, whilst offering a range of benefits to homeowners, industry and government. These developments are entitled to advertise their achievements by displaying a range of EnviroDevelopment icons.
