Burdett’s joins Holcim Australia

Building capability and capacity for a sustainable future

Burdett’s, a long-established south-east Melbourne supplier of sand and recycled materials to builders, landscapers and local customers since 1972, has today joined Holcim Australia.

The acquisition supports Holcim’s NextGen Growth 2030 strategy, enabling our vision to become Australia’s leading partner for sustainable construction.

Together, we’ll expand our local capability in circular construction and accelerate our support of Holcim’s global target to deliver 20+Mt of recycled construction demolition materials by 2030.

The business will continue to operate under the Burdett’s name, with the same local team, and the same sites in operation. For Burdett’s existing customers this means continuity of both quality supply and customer service they have come to expect.

South-east Melbourne is one of Australia’s strongest growth corridors, and as part of Holcim Australia, Burdett’s long-life sand reserves and recycling capability business will be supported to grow alongside the construction industry over the long term.

A shared focus on reuse

Burdett’s has long turned construction and demolition waste into materials that can be used again.

That capability is aligned with Holcim’s own commitment to enhancing our industry’s circular economy and presents new opportunities for our recycled aggregates range, ECOCycle, giving customers more local options.

This new ownership brings the backing of a national business, with the financial strength to continue investing in our local sites, equipment and people.

Customers can continue to contact Burdett’s through their usual contacts.
