Connecting Nature in Far North Queensland
Bebo Arch helps protect cassowary habitat with smart, low-impact design

In Far North Queensland, road projects don’t just connect people, they have to make space for nature too. That’s especially true in areas home to endangered species like the southern cassowary, where safe crossings are essential for protecting local wildlife.
The Humes Bebo Precast Concrete Arch has been installed on a sensitive site in the tropics as a wildlife overpass that encourages fauna to move safely and freely through their habitat, with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
Because the arch is precast off-site, installation is fast, safe, and low impact. The system is modular and flexible, with options to customise size, shape, and finish to suit each project.
To support long-term sustainability, the concrete mix includes up to 50% supplementary cementitious materials, helping to lower embodied carbon without compromising performance.

As part of the Humes Nature Series, the Bebo Arch shows how smart infrastructure can do more than carry vehicles. It can support the ecosystems around us, and help protect the places we all care about.
