Holcim’s new concrete plant for a growing Western Sydney

Western Sydney International Airport officially opened for business last month and, as the Aerotropolis and surrounding area continues to take shape, Holcim will be located right at the centre of the region's next chapter

Our soon-to-be open, new high-capacity concrete plant at Badgerys Creek has been built to supply the fast growing Western Sydney region. Only 1.5 kilometres from the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport and 2.5 kilometres from Bradfield City, the plant is positioned alongside one of Australia’s most ambitious development zones, reducing transport time and helping contractors avoid program disruption.

Working alongside local Holcim sister plants in Emu Plains, Narellan and Rooty Hill, Badgerys Creek will have the capacity to deliver up to 1,000 cubic metres of concrete a day and is set to be one of the most productive plants in the region.

The final stage of construction is underway and once the first concrete is produced, the team will be ready to ramp up supply at the scale required to build Bradfield City’s many civil, residential and commercial construction projects, the result of more than $25 billion invested in the region.

Getting Badgerys Creek into production means we can start supplying the construction sites building the Aerotropolis and its surrounding developments immediately.

“Fourteen months ago, like many new developments here, this was a paddock; now it’s set to be one of our busiest plants, producing concrete for one of the biggest urban developments in the country.

“Badgerys Creek has been a couple of years in the making and is further evidence of how Holcim is growing; we know where the next wave of development is heading and we make sure we are there ready to support it as construction ramps up. Western Sydney is one of the most significant growth corridors in the country right now, and this plant means we can support that growth from day one of production,” said Greg Price, Executive General Manager, Ready-mix concrete and Major Projects at Holcim.

Designed with the region’s future in mind the plant will supply a range of concrete solutions to customers across all construction sectors that include Holcim’s ECOPact low-carbon concrete range and the Geostone decorative concrete range.

The site has also been fitted with EV truck charging infrastructure, as we work to make our plants ready for a growing electric fleet across the industry.
