Shaping Future Leaders
Humes Delivers Second Module of Development Program
Ten emerging leaders from across Australia gathered in South Australia to complete the second module of the Humes Future Leaders Program, with a strong focus on building operational and technical excellence.
Representing New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria, and South Australia, participants engaged in a hands-on, three-day agenda designed to sharpen leadership capability in key areas including production planning, workplace safety, capital investment, and cost management.
The module included a site visit to the Humes Pooraka production facility and the workshop that produces precast concrete moulds for Humes across Australia. The custom-designed moulds ensure consistent quality, dimensional accuracy, and efficient manufacturing.

The Humes Future Leaders Program has a strong focus on building operational and technical excellence - together with co-creating strong cross-functional networks essential to long-term leadership success.
The development program was enriched by senior leaders and subject matter experts from across the business — including operations, quality, people and culture, research and innovation, commercial and finance, health and safety, and major projects.
A highlight of the week was a session with Colin McKeown - Area Manager for Humes in South Australia, who shared his personal leadership journey titled “A journey of growth, grit, and opportunity at Humes”, offering an inspiring look at career development within the business.
Participants left the program with renewed confidence in their leadership communication, a clearer understanding of production planning and KPIs, and practical tools — including dashboards — to manage performance and costs more effectively.

This program reflects our commitment to building a strong leadership pipeline across Australia. Empowering our next generation of leaders with operational and commercial capability is central to delivering on our NextGen Growth 2030 Strategy.
The group will reconvene in July to complete the third and final module of the program, with a focus on developing commercial and sales capability. Participants are encouraged to continue collaborating, applying their learnings in the field, and building the strong cross-functional networks essential to long-term leadership success.
