Built Greener: Transparency to impact: Bringing embodied carbon upfront

As an industry leader in environmental sustainability, Holcim is proud to be a sponsor of the Green Building Council of Australia’s conference TRANSFORM Online 2021.

In addition to the two-day conference on 17-18 March, a series of immersive breakout sessions will continue over the following two weeks.

Building back better with circular, positive sustainability strategies

Cyril Giraud, Holcim’s National Development & Sustainability Manager will take a deep dive into tackling upfront carbon as part of a special breakout session on 23 March. Embodied carbon is a significant challenge on the journey to net zero. Cyril will present “Transparency to impact: Bringing embodied carbon upfront” that will:

  • explore how Holcim is accelerating green construction by joining the net zero pledge with science-based targets,
  • share practical tips and tools for how to best calculate and predict the embodied carbon across the building life cycle
  • and, examine successful projects, including Build Neutral: An approach to engaging residential customers in embodied carbon.

Cyril will participate in a panel discussion on paths to reducing carbon in buildings in the same session.

TRANSFORM Online 2021 will explore how we can drive change and action for our places and people, as we aim for resilient, healthy, net zero cities and communities. The leading event of the GBCA features leaders from the construction industry and environmental experts, covering a breadth of topics including upfront carbon, circular economy, responsible supply chains and how we get to all-electric buildings.
